Chisapani Nagarkot is short and easy trekking in Kathmandu Valley Ridge, with combination of typical life hood, ethnic culture and mountain scenery. This is suitable for children’s, Family’s, students and those who have short time in Nepal but still want to explore countryside activities. This is best trip away from the hubbub of city life and great experience for interacting with local people.

Chisapani Nagarkot Trek starts from Sundarijal, after an hour drive from Kathmandu city into the north-east. The trail goes through the Shivapuri National Park and drinking water supply dam then to the Mulkharka villages and again oak and rhododendron forest. Spring is best time for the rhododendron blooming. You have amazing sun rise and sunset view from Chisapani and Nagarkot with snowcapped mountain chain including Mt. Everest (8,848m) Far East and Annapurna Range west horizon. Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa and Langtang Himalaya range can most of the trail. The Nagarkot Village is on the edge of the valley and offers superb views of the mountains as well as Kathmandu valley. Early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most fascinating and compelling for you. Then you will walk down through the village with different community along a ridge to the oldest temple Changu Narayan.  This is another view point for the Kathmandu Valley with Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur left side. Explore around Bhaktapur Durbar Square is entire experience of your life time, with ancients temple, palace, art, tradition etc.

Day to Day Itinerary

Day 01:Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1350m) -1 hour and trek to Chisapani (2300m) -4 to 5 hours

Day 02:Trek Chisapani to Nagarkot (2156 m) -6 to 7 hours

Day 03:Trek Nagarkot to Chngunarayan (1541m) -3 to 4 hours and Stay overnight Hotel.

Day 04:Trek Chngunarayan to Bhaktapur -1 ½ to 2 hours and Sightseeing at Bhaktapur Durbar square, Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 01 : Drive Kathmandu to Sundarijal (1350m) -1 hour and trek to Chisapani (2300m) -4 to 5 hoursWe drive from Kathmandu to the Sundarijal northern edge of the Kathmandu valley for about an hour by private transport and start to hike through the Shivpuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The first settlement we will come across to sprawling Tamang settlement Mulkharka. The trail continues on a gentle climb through the forests ridges before it drops down to Chisopani (cold water) (2300m) situated on the ridge from where you can see countless snow peaks. The sunrise on the Himalaya, from Annapurna to Everest, is particularly outstanding from here. Stay overnight there.

Day 02 : Trek Chisapani to Nagarkot (2156 m) -6 to 7 hours After having breakfast the trail lead us to Nagarkot (2156 m) a long day hike with Nepalese cultural village life style and beautiful mountain views. After reaching Nagarkot enjoy the sunset view and its offer magnificent and panoramic views of many Himalayan ranges including the 8,848 meters top of the world Mt. Everest. Among many incredible beauties of Nagarkot Sunrise and Sunset views over mountains are one of the best. Stay overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 03 : Trek Nagarkot to Chngunarayan (1541m) -3 to 4 hours and Stay overnight Hotel. Trek from Nagarkot to Changunarayan which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changu Narayan-with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left. Changunarayan is situated at the end of a long ridge which runs well into the valley, it is an oldest temple in Valley said to have been built in 323 AD by King Hari Datta Varma. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. Stay overnight at Hotel.

Day 04 : Trek Chngunarayan to Bhaktapur -1 ½ to 2 hours and Sightseeing at Bhaktapur Durbar square, Stay overnight at Hotel. Trek from Changunarayan to Bhaktapur which takes approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours, or you may drive 30 munities to the Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Our Tour Guide led you to explore around the Durbar complex. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. There are still more remarkable sites; one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley “Bhaktapur” is known as Living Museum. An old brick paved enclave of old Royal palace, Nyathapola Temple and Datatriya temple's exquisite artwork offers a picture of the grandeur of medieval Nepal.

Few things are worth arranging while you are at home. Please note down these list details before your departure, this tips will help to make your trip enjoyable:

  • Read travel advice, inform yourself before travelling and get advice locally when you arrive.
  • Make sure your passport valid date during your travel and consult about visa processing.

  • Never step over anyone feet/legs, and pull in your own legs when somebody wants to pass.
  • Never touch anybody with your feet, also never point in a direction using your feet. The feet are considered the most impure parts of the body.
  • When entering a house, somebody's kitchen, temple or monastery take off your shoes.
  • As a woman you should always be dressed avoiding provocation, so keep shoulders and legs covered.
  • It is very polite to give and accept with your right hand, and even more so when you use your left hand for supporting the elbow of your right hand.
  • When in doubt how to behave in certain situations; keep a low profile, do not shout and keep your dignity.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines.
  • Beef is prohibited among both the Hindus and Buddhists. No female animal is killed for food.
  • You may not be allowed entry to the inner sanctuaries of temples and Stupas.
  • You may be interested to take snaps of temples, Stupas and monuments. Generally temples, Stupas and monuments are permitted to be photographed, but it is better to have permission before using your cameras.
