Chisapani Nagarkot Trek starts from Sundarijal, after an hour's drive from Kathmandu city into the northeast. The trail goes through the Shivapuri National Park and drinking water supply dam then to the Mulkharka villages and again the oak and rhododendron forest. Spring is the best time for the rhododendron blooming. You have amazing sunrise and sunset views from Chisapani and Nagarkot with snowcapped mountain chains including Mt. Everest (8,848.86m) the Far East and Annapurna Range's west horizon. Mt. Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Langtang Himalaya range can be most of the trail. Dhap Dam Lake, part of the Bagmati River Basin Improvement Project (BRBIP), is a human-made reservoir created to enhance water security and build resilience against potential impacts of climate change in the Bagmati River Basin, supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Two trails go for the artificial Lake Dhap, one is a traditional trail through the Sundarijal, Mulkharka, and Army Camp above the village in the Shivapuri National Park, Chisapani and walk 3 km from along the road to Nagarkot. Next is separated from Mulkharka village (a bike ride from Begging of Mulkharka Village at Karma Hotel) and a walking trail middle of the village with a small stream turns to the right side and goes along the dense forest following the small river bank to the Hile Bhanjyang about 18 Km and one Km to the Dhap Lake.
The Nagarkot Village is on the edge of the valley and offers superb views of the mountains as well as Kathmandu Valley. The early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most fascinating and compelling for you. Then you will walk down through the village with the different communities along a ridge to the oldest temple Changu Narayan. This is another viewpoint for the Kathmandu Valley with Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur left side. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square is the entire experience of your lifetime, with ancient temples, palaces, art, tradition, etc.
