Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is located eastern part of Nepal, boarder with Sikkim and Tibet, and trail goes around the lap of “3rd Highest Mountain in the World” Mt. Kanchenjunga (8,586m). Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek begins from Taplejung after short flight Kathmandu to Bhadrapur and drive all the way to Taplejung on the same day of flight. In this trek, first you will visit Kanchenjunga North Base Camp (5,388m) following Tamor River Bank through the villages of Limbu ethnic people; Mitlung, Sinwa, Chiruwa, Tapethok, Lelep, Sukathum and turn right through the bank of Gunsa Khola walk by Amjilosa, Gyabla, Phale, Gunsa, Khambachen, Ramtang, Lhonak inhabited of Sherpa’s villages and Botiya people, who have been following hundred years back Tibetan culture, tradition and practicing Buddhism. During a rest for acclimatization day at Khambachen, it would be best to hike to Jannu view point (4,400m), from where see outstanding view of many mountains; Ghabur peak (6,044m), Phile (6,645m), Sobi Thongie (6,670m), Mera Peak (6,364m)  including Mt. Kumbhakarrna mountains. As, the view of Khumbhakarna is most significant from here, so sometime people called as Kumbhakarna view point as well for the Jannu. Kanchenjunga North Base Camp itself and Kanchenjunga glacier and others many mountains scenery are additional attraction of this trek. Then heading back to Ghunsa for the next part of trek Kanchenjunga South Base Camp cross over the Sele La Pass (4,290m) and visit to Yalung Base Camp (4,500m) known as Kanchenjunga South Base Camp via Cheram, Yalung Bara, Lapsang, Ramche, Oktang. The trail is coming down taking couple days to Happu Khola through the Tortong, Yamphudin, Khebang, Prdang. Staying overnight at Happu Khola at Tea House and drive back to Birtamod and Bhadrapur very in the morning due to just few buses available. Then Fly back to Kathmandu by plane for your destination.

Day 01:Fly Kathmandu to Bhadrapur (91m)-45 munities and drive by taxi or jeep to Birtamod (300m) -30 to 45 munities and drive Birtamod to Taplajung by Local bus- 8 to 9 hours, stay overnight at Taplejung (1820).

Day 02:Trek Taplejung to Sinwa (980m) – 5 to 6 hours

Day 03:Trek Sinwa to Sukathum/Japantar (1576m) – 6 to 7 hours

Day 04:Trek Sukathum to Gyabla (2730m) – 7 to 8 hours

Day 05:Trek Gyabla to Ghunsa (3415m) – 5 to 6 hours

Day 06:Trek Ghunsa to Khambachen (4050m) -5 to 6 hours

Day 07:Acclimatization or Explore day at Khambachen - visit Jannu View Point (4,400m) -5 to 6 hours

Day 08:Trek Kambachen to Lhonak (4780m) -6 to 7 hours

Day 09:Day trip Lhonak to Pangpema (5,143m) / Kanchenjunga North BC (5388m) back to Lhonak -7 to 8 hours

Day 10:Trek Lhonak to Ghunsa (3595m) -6 to 7 hours

Day 11:Trek Ghunsa to Cheram (3,870m) via Sele La Pass (4,290m), Sinion La (4,440m), Mirgin La (4,480m) & Sinelapche Bhanjyang (4,646m) – 9 to 10 hours

Day 12:Trek Tseram to Ramche (4620m) -3 to 4 hours & visit to Yalung Glacier (4500m) via Oktang, return to Ramche (4620m) -5 to 6 hours

Day 13:Trek Ramche to Yamphudin (2090m) - 9 to 10 hours

Day 14:Trek Yamphudin to Hapukhola (1400m)-7 to 8 hours

Day 15:Drive Early in the Morning Hapukhola to Ilam (800m) – 7 to 8 Hours

Day 16:Drive Ilam to Bhadrapur (91m) – 2 ½ to 3 Hours and fly to Kathmandu – 35 to 40 minutes

Some time we could face problem of internal flights to/from Suketar delayed by few hours or cancelled for a day because of bad weather. It is happen very rarely, but it could even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night in Kathmandu after your base camp trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish in those additional day overnight at hotel.

  • Never touch anybody with your feet, also never point in a direction using your feet. The feet are considered the most impure parts of the body.
  • When entering a house, somebody's kitchen, temple or monastery take off your shoes.
  • As a woman you should always be dressed avoiding provocation, so keep shoulders and legs covered.
  • It is very polite to give and accept with your right hand, and even more so when you use your left hand for supporting the elbow of your right hand.
  • When in doubt how to behave in certain situations; keep a low profile, do not shout and keep your dignity.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines.
  • Beef is prohibited among both the Hindus and Buddhists. No female animal is killed for food.
  • You may not be allowed entry to the inner sanctuaries of temples and Stupas.
  • You may be interested to take snaps of temples, Stupas and monuments. Generally temples, Stupas and monuments are permitted to be photographed, but it is better to have permission before using your cameras.
