Main Attractions of Tibet

Tibet boasts the world’s highest mountain-Mount Everest “Qumonlangma” the highest river-Yarlong Tsangpo River, the highest lake-Namtso, the “Sunlight City” Lhasa. Anyway, the two main attractions in Tibet are the scenery and its Buddhist heritage. The main attractions of Tibet are Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, Mt. Kailas, Manasarovar Lake, Yaluzhangbu Grand Canyon,  Norbulingka (the Summer Palace) and Rongbuk Monastery.

The capital city Lhasa is showcased in its dense cultural and spiritual atmosphere. Where, the grand Potala Palace on the Red Hill, the Jokhang Temple, the three greatest monasteries of Gelugpa - Drepung, Ganden and Sera, and the Tibetan Museum are always popular tourist destinations. It is usually the first window through which travelers discover Tibet. The highest peak in the world “Mt. Everest”  and other 4 peaks above 8,000 m. (26,247 ft.) as well as 38 peaks above 7,000 m. (22,966 ft.), earning it the admiring title of 'The Third Pole of the World' and with a magnetic effect on mountaineers lies in Shigatse. The second largest city Shigatse is features of the most complete natural sceneries and inhabitant of many rare plants and wild animals of Tibet. Include a noisy port bordering Nepal Zhangmu Town, and the Tashilhunpo Monastery “the throne of Panchen Lama” are other popular tourist sites.

Tibet first temple, Samye Monastery, Graveyard of Tibetan Kings, sacred Yamdrok Yumtso Lake and Lhamo Lhatso Lake, attract a continuous stream of visitors who come to appreciate or pay tribute. The cradle of the ancient civilization of Tibet Shannan is the place of origin of the Tibetan legendary ancestors--a Raksasi and a monkey. The natural sceneries include the Great Canyon of the Yarlung Tsangpo River, Bayi Town, Huge Cypress Nature Reserve, Mt. Bon-ri and its fascinating cliff sculptures are in Nyingchi. It is a beautiful region with a mild climate, located in the low southeast of Tibet. Ngari, known as the Roof of the World', facial appearance Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar are the sacred places, which are prime destinations for pilgrims of Bon, Buddhism and Hindus.

In the traditional region of Kham, Chamdo is located to the east and boasts Karub Ruins of Neolithic Age, some monasteries, mountains, lakes, hot springs and other natural wonders are main features of tourist. Nakchu, located in the astonishing northern plateau, is the seedbed of the early cultures of ancient Shengshong Kingdom and Bon.
