One of the more challenging trekking peaks, Chulu West, lies to the north of Annapurna range above the Manang Valley. It is one of the highest among the Chulu range. A Japanese Expedition made the first assent in history in 1952. There is a controversy that is always raised regarding the name and location of Chulu Peak due to several peaks forming part of Chulu massif, but these are not always indicated on maps. Therefore sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two Peaks Chulu East and West as the group comprises of four peaks, two to the east and two to the west. To add to further confusion, Chulu West may also be called Chulu Central.

Chulu West fulfills the dream of every amateur climber who wishes to have the thrilling Himalayan experience of lifetime with great views of Himalayas and Tibet. It is one of the more challenging trekking peaks in Nepal and requires greater commitment and previous climbing experience. You will be fully briefed and instructed by your experienced climbing guide on the techniques and use of crampons, ice axe, ropes, etc. in order to give you the required skills and confidence to ensure you have every possible chance to summit the peak. It usually understood that with the permit to climb the East or West Peak an attempt could be made to the nearby peaks as well. A climb to one or both of these peaks combined with Nepal's most famous around the Annapurna trek makes for one of the most spectacular Himalayan adventure journeys. Chulu West Peak climbing trip is difficult to match in regards to its spectacular mountain scenery, trekking, mountaineering challenges, and its variety of ethnic Nepalese cultures. The trail start from the lowland paddy fields and steadily gains altitude passing through oak and pine forests and eventually emerging into high desert country of Manang (3,597m), culminating in the ascent of Chulu West (6,419m). The Chulu West Base Camp is situated in a small valley north of Manang, off the main trail to the Thorang La. At Chauri Lather we take a narrow, steep trail up to a Base Camp at 4,800m. From there we climb a steep and rocky ground to high camp at about 5,300m. There is no technical difficulty involved in reaching the summit, but progress can be slow as the slopes are vulnerable to avalanches in certain conditions.

Our Chulu West Peak expedition combines all the best elements of a Himalayan expedition. This trip is strenuous and demands that each participant be well versed in alpine snow climbing skills. It is an excellent way to explore the culture of Nepal and ascend two Himalayan peaks in the safest possible way. The Chulu West Peak Climbing trip will end at Jomsom airstrip flight back to Pokhara on an early morning. We at “Nepal Mother House Treks and Expedition” are more than glad to design your Climbing Trip in Chulu West with our experienced climbing guides and expert staff for your complete satisfaction.
