The United Kindom and United States has lifted restrictions on their citizens travelling to Nepal.
The restriction was issued on October 8, 2015 for geological instability in Nepal following the Gorkha Earthquake, the monsoon season, unrest in Tarai, and country-wide fuel shortages.
“Because conditions have changed, the Travel Warning was cancelled effective February 29, 2016,” read a statement issued by Embassy of the United States in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Based on a country’s local conditions and risks for American travelers, the US Department of State publishes travel alert or travel warnings for every country in the world.
Likewise, UK relaxed the restriction in view of Prince Harry’s first ever upcoming official visit to Nepal from March 19-23. His plans to visit Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Squares, Bardiya National Park, mountain range view, trekking, among others, have already been revealed by the Buckingham Palace.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office of UK updated its travel advice on Friday mentioning ‘advice against all but essential travel lifted for all areas of Nepal’. The travel advice also mentioned ‘around 40,000 British nationals visited Nepal in 2013. Most visits are trouble-free.’ On July 4, three countries—the US, the UK and New Zealand—lifted restrictions on their citizens travelling to Nepal, except for districts hit hard by the April 25 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks.
