Annapurna Short Trekking goes through the rural villages and rhododendron forests beneath the majestic Himalayan scenery. The  Short Annapurna Trek is colorful short venture hike around the Annapurna Himalaya range with exciting mountain view, when you reach the highest points of your trek at Ghorepani (2,880m) and Poon Hill an elevation of 3,210 meters offers the one of the best mountain panorama. Short Annapurna Trek is an ample destination for those trekkers who have very short time but still would like to see the amazing view of snow capped mountain from closest distance. This is one of the shortest trekking trails of the Annapurna Region among the several trekking routes.

Normally, Ghorepani Poon Hill classical Trek is known as short and easy Annapurna trek access of least amount of time, which is beginning from Nayapul after a short scenic drive from beautiful city Pokhara. Now a day there is further road access after Nayapul also, so you do not need to follow the trekking trail along the bank of Burundi Khola. After Tikhedhunga, while climbing countless steps up to the Ulleri village, even you won’t be feeling that much more difficult with the amazing rice field landscape and glimpse of Mt. Annapurna South. Now a days, you can drive till Banthanti about 3 to 4 hours drive from Pokhara. Then the trail of Pun Hill Trek goes through rhododendron forest, sometime you will encounter Himalayan Goat, Dear and Monkey. During the spring forest can be seen full of rhododendron, magnolia and colorful orchids blooming. Ghorepani and surrounding villages are inhabitance of the Pun ethnic group (Sub-Cast Name of Magar’s Ethnic) with their unique culture and tradition. The Poon Hill Tower established on 21st-Feburary 2001 by Major Tek Bahadur Pun, so this tower called memorial view Tower also by the name of the founder. While visiting Pun Hill in the morning for the sunrise view; you will enjoy one of the most spectacular mountain scenery on Earth. Panoramic view Dhaulagiri (8,167m) from west to the east Lamjung Himal and Manaslu are amazing. And Mount Nilgiri, Annapurna range including Annapurna (8,091m) along with a network of other peaks makes your journey worth able. After rewarding view from Ghorepani and Poon Hill you will visit traditional Gurung Village “Ghandruk” through the Tadapani and Bhaisikharka then your Annapurna Short Trek will finish at Nayapul or keep on continue for two days more walk to the Dhampus Phedi.

In this situation, we provide a professional Guide/Porter-Guide (helps to carry 5 to 8 kg of your bag) and will provide you local transportation bus or jeep instead to private transport from Pokhara to trekking begging point and trekking ending point to Pokhara. Day 01 : Drive Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1160m) / Ulleri (1,960m) via Nayapul (1,010m) – 3 to 4 hours and trek to Ghorepani (2,840m) – 5 to 6 hoursThe first day trek starts at Tikhedhunga (1160m) / Ulleri (1960m) after 3 to 4 hours driving by private/Public vehicle from Pokhara. From Nayapul (1,010m) the road goes along the banks of the Modi Khola and large village that has many shops and teahouses. The main inhabitants of this village are Gurung, Magar and Thakali. Then, the trail continues following the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola through villages till Sudame (1160m) and climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille (1,495m). After the short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga (1570m). Today’s walk offers a short and comparatively easy day, during the journey allowing us to get the full experience of trekking in Nepal. After lunch, we begin our journey with a steep climb to large Magar village at Ulleri (1,960m). Then the trail continues to ascend more gently, through dense forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti (2250m). Occasionally, we can see Longgur (long tail black mouth Monkey) jumping in the trees. Then we trek towards Nangethanti (2,460m), after an hour walk we arrive at Ghorepani (2840m). Stay overnight at a lodge.

Day 02 : Hike up to Poon Hill (3210m) - 45 minutes to Tadapani (2520m) – 4 to 5 hoursWe will hike about 45 minutes up to Poon Hill (3210m) early in the morning. This viewpoint provides an unobstructed and beautiful view of the sunrise over the high Himalayas with panoramic view giants Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m), Machhapuchere, Nilgiri, Hiuchuli, South Annapurna etc. Additionally we can see a network of other peaks, slowly beginning to appear like magic before our eyes. We come back to Ghorepani for a hot breakfast and start walking to Tadapani. Here the trail climbs alongside ridges with pine and rhododendron forests to the Deurali and then descends through beautiful waterfalls, streams, and dense forest to Banthati. The streams have some clear pools alongside the trail which finally climbs up to the final destination Tadapani meaning ‘hot water.’ This is the water supply for a village far away.

Day 03 : Trek Tadapani to Kimche (1640m) via Ghaundrung – 4 to 5 hours, Drive to Pokhara (950m) – 2 to 3 hours, then your own destination.Today we will descend steeply through the dense forests with breathtaking panorama views of the Ghaundrung village, inhabited by Gurung people. If you wake up early in the morning you can catch some excellent sunrises above the mountains. We will stay overnight here so you’ll have the afternoon to visit the Annapurna conservation office, museum, and picturesque ancient Gurung village, the second largest Gurung settlement in Nepal. Then 2 to 3 hours walk to Khimche, then drive 2 to 3 hours by jeep or bus followed by a ride back to Pokhara, a peaceful lakeside city harboring a unique setting of tropical climate and vegetation with the dramatic backdrop of the Himalayas. Stay overnight at Pokhara Hotel.

Few things are worth arranging while you are at home. Please note down these list details before your departure, this tips will help to make your trip enjoyable:

  • Never touch anybody with your feet, also never point in a direction using your feet. The feet are considered the most impure parts of the body.
  • When entering a house, somebody's kitchen, temple or monastery take off your shoes.
  • As a woman you should always be dressed avoiding provocation, so keep shoulders and legs covered.
  • It is very polite to give and accept with your right hand, and even more so when you use your left hand for supporting the elbow of your right hand.
  • When in doubt how to behave in certain situations; keep a low profile, do not shout and keep your dignity.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines.
  • Beef is prohibited among both the Hindus and Buddhists. No female animal is killed for food.
  • You may not be allowed entry to the inner sanctuaries of temples and Stupas.
  • You may be interested to take snaps of temples, Stupas and monuments. Generally temples, Stupas and monuments are permitted to be photographed, but it is better to have permission before using your cameras.
