Shivapuri National Park Hike is one of the best hikes nearby Kathmandu valley. It can do a day hike just visit Shivipuri peak or multi days hiking to the Chisapani and Nagarkot. Conveniently close to Kathmandu, Shivapuri is the latest national park of Nepal. It is situated on the northern rim of the Kathmandu Valley; the streams that emanate from here provide fresh drinking water for a major portion of the inhabitants of the valley. This is just 25 kilometers from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu; Shivapuri National Park is one of the few national parks within a nation's capital and it is a youngest national park in Nepal. Day 03:Trek Nagarkot to Chngunarayan (1541m) -3 to 4 hours & drive to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur Durbar -2 hours

Day 01 : Drive Kathmandu to Budhanilkantha/Panimuhan and Hike to Chisapani (2156m) via Nagi Gumba, Bagdwar, Shivapuri peak (2732m) -6 to 7 hours The Shivapuri Nagarkot Hike starts at secret site Budhanilakantha 9 Km from Thamel. If you are driving by private car/Jeep then you can drive till Shivapuri National Park Gate, Panimuhan, and 1 Km further from Budhanilkantha. Before check in National Park, you need to make sure have not any prohibited things with you such as; Lighter, Matches Knife, Cigarette, and Alcoholic and cannot do any acts to harm nature and animals and national park tickets. This is a less crowded and more pristine destination which provides excellent mountains view of Ganesh Himal, Langtang and the Annapurna. The trail begins at through the road inside dense forest and turns east below the Nagi Gumba. Then in 25 munities ascending you will get in Nagi Gumba, where you can get some food shop at Gumba. As Nagi Gumba is last shop and there is not any proper water resource till Bagdwar, you need to fill up your water bottle and suggest taking some snacks as well. You need to have lunch at the Nagi Monastery. From here nice Kathmandu Valley View can be seen in a clear day. After lunch, you will further trek up to the top of Shivapuri Hill. Now days the National Park not allows to spent overnight inside the park, so you need to walk to Chisapani or Back to Kathmandu. From the Nagi Gumba the trail goes steep up through the several steps in the rhododendron forest and nice view of Kathmandu valley. You will get in Bagdwar (the originated spot of Sacred Bagmati River) after 2 hours walking. If you walk 30 to 40 munities you will get in Shivapuri Peak (2,732m), where the saint Govindananda Bharati known as Shivapuri Baba (1826-1963) were mediated in this hill. It offers nature beauties, unique culture, diverse flora and fauna in the Shivapuri National Park. This is a way for anyone wishing to truly get away from the distractions of urban life, it is a perfect retreat. From Baghdwar Gumba 3 hours walk lead to you Chisapani trek. Stay overnight at Chiosapani.

Day 02 : Trek Chisapani to Nagarkot (2156 m) -6 to 7 hoursAfter having breakfast the trail lead us to Nagarkot (2156 m) a long day hike with Nepalese cultural village life style and beautiful mountain views. After reaching Nagarkot enjoy the sunset view and its offer magnificent & panoramic views of many Himalayan ranges including the 8,848 meters top of the world Mt. Everest. Among many incredible beauties of Nagarkot Sunrise & Sunset views over mountains are one of the best. Stay overnight at hotel in Nagarkot.

Day 03 : Trek Nagarkot to Chngunarayan (1541m) -3 to 4 hours & drive to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur Durbar -2 hoursTrek from Nagarkot to Changunarayan which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours and drive from Changunarayan to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur Durbar Square, it takes 2 hours and 45 munities explore around Durbar complex. The most popular walk leads down from Nagarkot along a ridge to the temple of Changu Narayan-with views of Sankhu village to the right and Bhaktapur to the left. Changunarayan is situated at the end of a long ridge which runs well into the valley, it is an oldest temple in Valley said to have been built in 323 AD by King Hari Datta Varma. The temple is richly decorated with sculptures and carvings. There are still more remark site; the one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley “Bhaktapur” is known as Living Museum. Where, old brick paved enclave of old Royal palace, Nyathapola Temple, Datatriya temple exquisite artwork offers a picture of the grandeur of medieval Nepal.

  • When in doubt how to behave in certain situations; keep a low profile, do not shout and keep your dignity.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines.
  • Beef is prohibited among both the Hindus and Buddhists. No female animal is killed for food.
  • You may not be allowed entry to the inner sanctuaries of temples and Stupas.
  • You may be interested to take snaps of temples, Stupas and monuments. Generally temples, Stupas and monuments are permitted to be photographed, but it is better to have permission before using your cameras.
