Gokyo LakesTrek is one of the popular trekking routes among many in Nepal where trekkers trek all the year round. Standing above 5,360m from sea level,  Gokyo Ri is a peak situated  in the Khumbu region and located on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier. This is the largest glacier in Nepal and one should come to trek this place as it has a lot to offer everyone.  At the base of Gokyo Ri, the Gokyo is situated which is 15,583 ft above sea level and is one of the highest settlements in the world. Trip Note

*Notice on Kathmandu to Lukla Flight Issue:

It is informed that the Government of Nepal has announced Lukla flight from Manthali, Ramechhap due to heavy air traffic on Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) at Kathmandu, the flight to Lukla will conduct from Ramechhap in anticipation of further notice. Ramechhap is located 139 km East-North from Kathmandu with approximately 4 to 5 hours drive from Kathmandu.

As alternatively, if you would like to direct flight from Kathmandu to Luka, then there are Helicopter flight which can be made on 5 passenger basis with additional 500 US$ per person for one way to change your airplane flights to the helicopter. We will do our best coordinate with the airline to make groups at the airport for the helicopter flight, but we can’t give guarantee it. Fly to Lukla from Manathali airport, Ramechhap is almost always guaranteed unless sometime the flight is delayed or canceled due to not favorable weather at Lukla.

Travelers are suggested to inform us of the chosen alternatives for the flights to/from Lukla affected due to possible delays or interruptions. For more details please go through the Lukla Flight from Ramechhap.

**Note: Some time we could face problem of internal flights to/from Lukla delayed by few hours or cancelled for a day because of bad weather. It is happen very rarely, but it could even in best trekking season also as you know how climate change is effecting our globe. Therefore, we always recommend you to add one supplement night in Kathmandu after your base camp trek if possible (just for incase). If everything runs smoothly, you can enjoy other activities like sightseeing, rafting, shopping, as you wish in those additional day overnight at hotel.

Day 01 : Arrival at Kathmandu.Upon arrival at international airport, our waiting support team will meet and greet you at the airport assist and transfer to the Hotel.

Day 02 : Trekking preparation and permit paper work day. Trekking preparation and permit organize day. Please, check your insurance details and have a copy of your travel medical insurance policy with you.

Day 03 : Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,800m) -30 minutes, trek to Phakding (2,640m) -3 to 4 hours Early in the morning fly Kathmandu to Lukla (30 to 40 minutes) then make final preparations for the trek. From Lukla you'll pass Chaurikharka village and make a descent towards the Ghat (2,530m). The trail follows the bank of the Dudhkosi River. To assist acclimatization, this first day Treks is only 3 to 4 hrs. But if people are still interested to do more activities they will have the opportunity to go on a side trip to monastery around in Phakding. Stay overnight at Lodge.

Day 04 : Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3,430m) -5 to 6 hours The trail follows the Dodh Kosi River banks and arrives in Tok Tok. You can see excellent views of Thamserku peak from here. The trail climbs to Chomoa, the site of an agricultural project farm. Then the trail climbs to Monju (2,840m) and enters the Sagarmatha National Park Area (1,148 sq km, established in 1976). Walking some distance up you will be at Jorsale (2830m) and after crossing the last (fifth) bridge; there is another long climb from where you can have a view of Mt. Everest, over the right Nupste (7,879m). After 5 to 6 hrs walking the trail reaches the street of Namche Bazaar at last. Stay overnight in Namche Bazaar and witness the snow capped mountains and Sherpa heritage.

Day 05 : Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar and visit Khumjung Village (3,790m) After having a late breakfast, take a walk for sightseeing around Namche Bazaar then hike to the Everest View Hotel. This is the ideal place to view outstanding mountains such as Mt.Everest, Nupste, Ama Dablam, Kangtegha, Thamserku, kusum khangru, khongde and Khumbi yu La etc. While watching the spectacular view of mountains, the trail leds you in khumjung valley, where can see Hillary School, an ancient Monastery with a yeti skull, and khunde Hospital, and then return back to Namche. If you are still willing to go, you can visit the mountaineering museum and visit the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee (SPCC) in Namche Bazaar. Otherwise you can spend some time interacting with the fun-loving Sherpa and Rai people in here. Above the police check post you will see Sagarmatha National Park headquarters and visitor center; it is open 8 am to 4 pm except Saturdays and government holidays. Stay overnight at Lodge.

Day 06 : Namche Bazaar to Dole (4,200m) -5 to 6 hours We walk along a very pleasant trail under soaring peaks to Thamserku and further down overlooking magnificent view of the great giant snow peaks from Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kwangde peak after a pleasant walk of two hours to a small place at Shanasa. Then trail ascends to the left towards Mongla hill and continues down to Phortse Thanga. After having lunch, the trail leads you ascending through the rhododendrons forest accompanied by the sounds of the river. You will have a glimpse of wildlife such as musk dear here in Jharal. It is a small place with few teahouses.

Day 07 : Dole to Machhermo (4,410m) -4 to 5 hours Having breakfast, we climb to the picturesque ridge above Dole and then climb via Lhabarma at 4,220m to Luza at 4,360m. Still the trail continues to climb up alongside a valley high above the river, crossing many sandy spurs to reach Machharmo at 4,410m. Here a Sherpa woman’s three Yaks were killed by the Yeti in 1974. This is the first Yeti sightings that were reported in Khumbu. After arriving a taking a break, we can visit the Himalayan rescue association and overnight at the hotel.

Day 08 : Machhermo to Gokyo (4,790m) -5 to 6 hours First we climb up the ridge and can see excellent views both down the valley to Khangtega and northern part to the Cho-Oyu (8,153m). We descend the river bank before beginning the climb up to the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa glacier where we will start to climb until first lake. The trail follows the valley to the second lake view and after an hour walk we will arrive at Gokyo (4,750m) on the edge of third lake. Today’s course is mostly gentle ascents and relatively flat trail to Gokyo. Total trekking time is about 5 to 6 hours. Stay overnight at Lodge.

Day 09 : Gokyo Ri /Peak (5,360m) -2 to 3 hours Early in the morning hike up to the Gokyo Ri (5,360m) for breathtaking views and a magestic sunrise at the top of the mountain. We can see the four highest mountains including Mt. Everest and many other snowcapped peaks. This will be unforgettable memory so please enjoy the top. You can see the Cho-yu base camp and Ngazumpa glacier; one of the biggest glaciers in the world. After stroll back to hotel and stay overnight. We will have great memories and stroll back to Gokyo for breakfast then relax the rest of the day.

Day 10 : Gokyo to Dole (4,200m) -5 to 6 hours After exploring Gokyo Valley and Gokyo lakes, most of the trail goes down gently to Dole. People who would like to take alternative route to Phorche Village can. It turns east and climbs across the terminal moraine of the Ngazumpa Glacier to Na (4,400m) nearby Phanga. On the way, you have still chance to see a number of mountains view around you. Stay overnight at Dole.

Day 11 : Dole to Namche Bazaar (3,430m) -4 to 6 hours After breakfast again all the same way trek down to Phorche Thanga through rhododendron and pine forest. Then the trail leads you up to Mongla hill and gradual descent to the Sanasa the main trail for the Everest Base Camp. Head to Namche Bazaar to stay overnight.

Day 12 : Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,800m) - 6 to 7 hours After a long walk we'll have long last trek back to Lukla today. We descend a long ways before crossing the bridge. After a further walk to Monju we stop in Phakding for lunch. We will remind ourselves again to enjoy the lush green scenery around us as we pass through the incredible mountain scenery and local Sherpa villages until Lukla. You'll have time to wander around the areas and the guide will reconfirm your flight ticket. Enjoy the last dinner and celebrate with your crew before heading back to stay overnight at the hotel.

Day 13 : Fly back to Kathmandu -30 minutes Normally, the flight for Kathmandu is in the morning due to the wind in the afternoon; sometime the flight time can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason beyond our control. Anyway we will fly back to Kathmandu and your guide will transfer to hotel. Then you may have time to relax after long journey and catch your breath. Relax at your hotel the rest of day.

Day 14 : Your own destination. In this pleasant day you may have full day at leisure either relax at hotel or explore the around Thamel. Today is day of ending your journey, so we would like offer you farewell dinner in Nepali typical Restaurant and hand over you Trip Certificate, Trekking Permit and TIMS Card for memory of Nepal trip. Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until departure flight/drive. Our assist will be transfer to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination, taking with you the memory of a life time.

  • As a woman you should always be dressed avoiding provocation, so keep shoulders and legs covered.
  • It is very polite to give and accept with your right hand, and even more so when you use your left hand for supporting the elbow of your right hand.
  • When in doubt how to behave in certain situations; keep a low profile, do not shout and keep your dignity.
  • It is better not to touch offerings or persons when they are on way to shrines.
  • Beef is prohibited among both the Hindus and Buddhists. No female animal is killed for food.
  • You may not be allowed entry to the inner sanctuaries of temples and Stupas.
  • You may be interested to take snaps of temples, Stupas and monuments. Generally temples, Stupas and monuments are permitted to be photographed, but it is better to have permission before using your cameras.
